Invitations to Attend

From the success of our 2005 Indigenous pre-conference Family and Community Strengths Forum, the Family Action Centre (FAC) and Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC) have decided to join together to provide an opportunity for Indigenous communities from all around Australia to tell their stories of success over a 3 day event.

SNAICC is an important leading National Indigenous Organisation providing valuable resources and guidance to Indigenous communities around Australia while the FAC is known for innovative strength- based approaches when working with families and communities.

This conference is an opportunity for indigenous communities to come along and hear from others working in communities, who haven’t before had the opportunity to tell their stories in a positive light, and to share the successes that they are experiencing.

We are hoping that attendees will take away valuable information and resources that can be implemented and adjusted to suit their communities so that they can stay strong in heart, spirit and soul.

Warm regards, Craig Hammond

On behalf of SNAICC the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care I extend to you an invitation to join us at the First National Indigenous Family and Community Strengths Conference.

This conference will be a gathering of people working in many different ways to strengthen Indigenous families and communities. Through the conference you will have the chance to hear from Indigenous people of Australia, NZ, Canada and across the world. They have great stories to share, and a common history of recognising the connection to community country and culture is central to Indigenous family wellbeing.

I know that this conference will inspire us all to return to our communities, agencies and departments and develop new activities, programs and policies to strengthen family and communities. We have a responsibility to support and nurture the strengths of our own families and lives with love and kindness.

And finally I know the conference will enable us to meet old friends and make new ones as we celebrate and enjoy the culture and strengths of our communities.

Warm regards, Muriel Bamblett AM,
CEO, Victorian Aboriginal Childcare Agency &. Chair, SNAICC
