Invitation to Attend

The 5th Australian Family and Community Strengths Conference promises to be an exciting and informative event. Significant changes to the conference timing, themes and an increased focus on Indigenous issues differentiate this event from the previous four biannual conferences. The conference themes have been expanded to embrace the multitude of ever changing ways in which people are engaged in their communities, including the arts, spirituality, social enterprise and the innovative and creative means by which we work to develop a sense of connection, belonging and meaning.

The conference delegates will share a day with the First National Indigenous Family and Community Strengths Conference which runs from Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th April. There will be International and Australian keynotes, panel presenters and a variety of practical focussed workshops. The conference has been moved from December to April so we will avoid the heatwave conditions we experienced during the last conference in December 2005.

In reviewing the evaluations from that conference, I invite you to be once again be ‘inspired, energised and provided with useful and practical ideas’. I hope that you will experience as one delegate described ‘a light globe going on in my head’, and trust that the mix of practice, research and policy will provide you with a learning journey that will enhance your capacity and energy for your work into the future.

Please join us.
